A Gala event at City hall launching the World AIDS Day activities. A photo exhibit “AIDS in Two Cities” comparing AIDS in Port au Prince, Haiti and Vancouver, Canada. Project Stitch (co-presented by AV and VCH)
Together, youth and students from across the Lower Mainland, we will unite in the fight through an evening of creativity, music and awareness.
Hitting the stage at the Croatian Cultural Centre will be a range of styles, images and sounds. From slam poetry to hip hop, gumboot dancing, dj’s and speakers World AIDS Day will be represented by many different styles. Most exciting will be the unveiling of the collaborative Digital Quilt created by you and youth around the world. We are pleased to present this evening with our partners YouthCo, Youthink and CapAIDS. |

Oratorio for AIDS
Opera Appassionata
Tickets: $20 ($15 for students and seniors)
Description: Oratorio for AIDS World AIDS Day is taking on global dimensions and Opera Appassionata is pleased to offer this Fundraising concert to benefit AIDS Vancouver and the Dr. Peter Centre. A great variety of music from many oratorios accompanied in turn by piano and organ sung by some of the finest soloists in Vancouver in the unforgettable acoustics of St. Andrew's-Wesley United Church and St. Paul's Anglican.

"Women's Worlds, Women's Work: Open House to Celebrate International Connections."
Positive Women's Network hosts an Open House Tea to honor international connections of women confronting HIV. Join us, along with our guests YouthCO, Grandmothers to Grandmothers (Stephen Lewis Foundation), and Oxfam Canada as we discuss local, national and international initiatives.

The Chair of our Board of Directors will be addressing 1,400 delegates from the BC Federation of Labour who will be attending a week-long convention at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre. Paul's brief presentation will highlight local World AIDS Day activities taking place at the Carnegie Centre, and will also feature BCPWA's year-long provincial campaign to End HIV Stigma (www.endHIVstigma.ca), including a screening of our two TV advertisements |

“One World - One Hope” quilt exhibit
The painting “One World One Hope” by Vancouver artist Joe Average was commissioned by the 1996 conference committee to the quilter, Doreen Rennschmid, to transfer the image onto a quilt. It provided an inspiring backdrop for the conference main stage. The quilt measures 29’ x 32’ and weighs approximately 125lbs. This will be the first time the quilt has been seen in Vancouver since the 1996 International Conference.
