IV. TARGET POPULATIONS

The target populations for the Vancouver HIV/AIDS Care Co-ordinating Committee are those population groups who are living with HIV and AIDS and those groups who are more vulnerable to HIV infection due to unsafe behaviours and/or the effects of broad social and economic influences.

  • Injection drug users
  • Men who have sex with men (gay, bisexual, men who occasionally have sex with men)
  • Aboriginal People (especially Aboriginal women and Two-Spirit persons)
  • Women
  • Infants
  • Youth
  • Young gay men
  • Transgendered persons
  • Sex trade workers
  • Multiple diagnosed persons
  • Seriously mentally ill persons
  • Ethnospecific persons
  • Incarcerated persons
